International Roman Law Moot court Competition

A competition between Law schools of the participating universities, on a case which is created and communicated by the Law School of Oxford University. Subject of this competition is the Roman law which, as a common foundation of urban rights in the European countries, composes a contact point of the Law Schools and offers ground for the “confrontation” of the students in a complex case of urban rights. The competition, which takes place every year in Kavala and Philippi, promotes the noble rivalry between the students, in a place of particular symbolic significance, and is open to the public. This initiative took place in 2008 with the participation of students and academicsfrom four recognized European Law Schools, and more particularly the University of Oxford and Cambridge from the United Kingdom, the University of Trier in Germany and the University of Liege in Belgium. A year later it was extended in order to include the Law Schools from the Universities of Vienna (Austria), Tubingen (Germany), Napoli "Federico II" (Italy). Competing on behalf of Greece is the National and Kapodistian University of Athens.

Ottoman Kavala

A seminar organized in cooperation with Princeton University of New Jersey. The event was held as part of the Menoikion project of P.U. and Prof. Heath Lowry was the key lecturer.

The role of Mohamed Ali in the creation of modern Egypt

International literature symposium '' Kavafia ''

A symposium in honor of the famous Greek poet K.P.Kavafi held every two years, between Cairo andKavala. The festivity includes the ceremony of the Kavafi literature award, an exhibition of arts a music concert, and a literature conference with Egyptian and Greek scholars.

Ceramic symposiums

A unique gathering of ceramic artists from the Balkan area, where they have the chance to exchange ideas and experiences. The final outcome is exhibited in the gardens of the house of Mohamed Ali.

Exhibition of the painter V. Zografos

Third project of contemporary art program held by the Institute, in the museum of Mohamed Ali Pasha. The works were installed so as to use the house of Mohamed Ali as a unique shell that brings the works in constant dialogue with the past ultimately creating a new present.
